Johannes A. Lercher
Prof. Johannes A. Lercher is an internationally recognized scientist in heterogeneous catalysis. He is external member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Member of the Academia Europaea, the President of the International Zeolite Association, the Vice President of the German Catalysis Society, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Catalysis and the Burwell Lecturer of the North American Catalysis Society. He has become a Professor of Chemical Technology at the TU München, Germany since 1998 and the Director of the Institute for Integrated Catalysis at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since 2012.
Prof. Lercher s research focuses on fundamental aspects of industrially important catalytic reactions by combining in situ characterization of catalysts and catalytic processes with advanced kinetic analysis and the design and synthesis of catalysts with multiple functions. His research topics include oxide and molecular sieve based sorption and catalysis, new routes to activate and functionalize hydrocarbons, conversion of biomass, hydrogenation of heavy fossil carbon resources, and carbon capture and utilization. He has published more than 430 papers.
